Registration Fees:

All fees for NHD contests are payable online via ZFairs.

  • ​There is a fee of $30 per participant payable via ZFairs at registration (not per entry). See the payment sheet in the Regional Winners Packet. 
  • We will never turn down an entry because of an inability to pay the fees. If this is an issue, please email Kelly.Cvanciger@ucdenver.edu.
  • We are unable to issue refunds, even in the case of overpayment or cancellation.

Students who advance to the National Contest will stay after the State contest award ceremony to meet with the State Director and staff. This meeting is from 6-8pm and is required. 

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: ALL NHDC Regional Contest are IN PERSON contests, therefore students are required to be in person for their interviews.

We do not offer a Zoom option at any NHDC contests. The State Contest is an IN PERSON event!

Important Deadlines + Info

Registration Closes April 3 at 5pm! 
  • Papers are due by April 8th at 4:00 pm via the ZFairs platform.
  • Websites will be locked on April 8th at 4pm. Please submit a correct URL in the registration form.
  • Documentaries that wish to be considered for special awards must submit their link via the registration form due April 1st at 4pm.
  • Documentary final links are due April 8th at 4pm via ZFair.
  • Exhibit, Performance, and Documentary paperwork must be submitted via Zfairs by April 8th at 4pm as one PDF document to include a Title Page, Process Paper, and Annotated Bibliography. 

National Qualifiers

National History Day 2026

Who can attend? Students must compete and win at their regional competitions in order to qualify for the State Contest. Students who place first or second in each category at the State Contest qualify to compete at the National Contest. Third-place finishers serve as alternates at the National Contest if first-place or second-place finishers are not able to attend.
