Join us for the 2024 Teacher Summer Institute !
National History Day-Colorado is offering a Teacher Institute, July 25-27th. This is an on-site-expenses paid, 3-day institute designed for educators to learn how to implement the NHD curriculum in their classroom. This amazing opportunity is co-sponsored by prominent organizations that support the study of history. This includes the History Colorado Center, the University of Colorado Department of History, Teaching with Primary Sources at MSU, the Denver Public Library, the Molly Brown House, and the Center for Colorado Women’s History.

The Gilder Lehrman Teacher Series

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History now offers more than fifty Self-Paced Courses on a wide range of historical topics.

Pressed for time? Self-Paced Courses are designed to fit seamlessly into busy schedules. Watch, listen, and read over several weeks or months, as your schedule allows.

Professional development credit: Self-Paced Courses are open to all, but as an added benefit for teachers we offer certificates of completion for 8–15 hours of PD credit upon the successful completion of a course.



Affiliate School Program: K–12 teachers in the Gilder Lehrman Affiliate School Program receive a 25% discount on all Self-Paced Course purchases—applied automatically when logged in. Teachers not yet registered can create a free account here.

CLAS-NHDC Scholarship

NHDC & CU Denver Scholarship Application

In cooperation with The University of Colorado Denver and CU Denver's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, National History Day Colorado is pleased to offer an opportunity for all NHDC Juniors and Seniors to apply for a one-time scholarship of $1,500 during each contest year. This application will open in January 2024.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Colorado high school juniors and seniors who have competed in National History Day in Colorado at ANY TIME during middle and/or high school.

  • Student planning to attend the University of Colorado Denver or who plan to be part of dual enrollment courses or CU Succeed that is not paid by their school district.

  • The scholarship is not limited to winners of regional or state contests; students need only to have completed a project.

Supporting materials, in addition to the completed on-line application linked below:

  • Academic Resume

  • 1 Teacher Recommendation

  • Typed essay (500 words or less) answering the following:

    • Which historic figure is the best model for your future aspirations and why?

Deadline:

All applications and supporting materials must be submitted electronically no later than 5:00 pm on April 10, 2024.  The winner will be announced at the State Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 27th.
