Major Tasks
Grant-writing and seeking in-kind donations:
- Actively seek out grants, scholarships and other fundraising options available to the lab
- Search for private organizations or alumni interested in donating to the lab
- Work with Dr. Moreno to complete and submit grant proposals and applications
- Present to finance/grant committees, explaining and defending our monetary needs
- Demonstrate the value investing in the FOSS4G Lab has for the students, University and professional community
Desired Traits
Organizational Skills:
- Experience with grant writing and accounting
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Ability to organize strong and concise responses while public speaking
Communication Skills:
- Ability to communicate professionally with students and faculty of UC Denver as well as professionals in the FOSS4G field
- Ability and desire to create and foster relationships with other individuals and organizations interested in supporting the the lab
- Ability to regularly report on project goals to Steering Committee and participate in discussion regarding the future directions of the lab
Personality Traits:
- Desire and ability to work in a fluid environment with evolving structure and tasks
- Desire to gain experience in coordination and communication skills
- High level of respect for financial privacy
