A culture of inclusion creates a sense of belonging for everyone. Businesses that commit to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace increase performance, productivity, and employee/customer satisfaction. Inclusive work environments promote cultural understanding and open up opportunities for collaboration in our increasingly globally-focused world. Our workshops offers business leaders, managers, and staff the ability to bridge cultural gaps and promote an inclusive culture within the workplace.

Sample Workshop Descriptions

  • Why Does Cultural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Matter?
This introductory workshop covers the fundamental concepts and history of cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. Understand both the benefits and challenges of establishing diversity and inclusion in the workplace as well as impact on individuals and communities across the country. Learn how well-executed DEI initiatives can ultimately boost a company’s bottom line.
  • Examining Personal Implicit Bias, Prejudice, and Assumptions
Develop an awareness of your own attitudes and identities in the context of cultural diversity and inclusion and examine hidden biases that are not always obvious. Discover how historical, systemic, and cultural influences shape our perceptions and implicit biases. Practice internal mental and emotional skills to catch these biases and prejudices and turn them into positive and productive thoughts and behaviors.
  • The Impacts of Identity and Privilege in the Workplace
Explore our earned and unearned privileges and the advantages and disadvantages that we have in our life, society, and in the workplace. Review the multifaceted dimensions (or intersectionality) of individual identities and how these identities/privileges affect one’s belief system and behaviors in the workplace. Develop ally-ship to encourage a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture.
  • Tackling Microaggression in the Workplace
Overt racism, sexism, homophobia, and other obvious discriminatory behaviors are typically less common in the workplace. This doesn’t mean that discrimination is absent in professional settings. Instead, oppressive and offensive words and actions show up in more nuanced forms known as microaggressions. Microaggressive language and behaviors are subtle, indirect, intentional, or unintentional insults and can create a toxic and hurtful work culture. In this workshop, you learn how to prevent microaggression in the workplace and ways to intervene when unwelcome microaggressive language and gestures appear.

Sample Testimonials

“I liked addressing implicit bias & privilege. Really provides perspective & solutions on the issues. I wish there was more time!”

“This was one of the best DEI trainings I have attended. The material was informative and interesting and I walked away with intervention strategies that I feel empowered to use in the future. JR did a great job presenting the information for this training. DEI training can be a heavy topic, but JR facilitated in a way that challenged us to be honest and critical with ourselves and our biases while removing the shame/guilt that can result. JR's energy and passion for the topic was empowering and infectious.”

“Aside from being knowledgeable about the topic at hand, JR's authenticity is apparent as is his compassion. The material, even though just introductory, was presented in a very non-threatening manner which should put everyone at ease. We have a very diverse work family and I was so happy to see everyone in my group attentive and interested.”

“JR is great. I wouldn't change a thing. His approach and demeanor are very human and I like that he doesn't take himself too seriously while, at the same time, presenting the content in a very straightforward manner that's easily digested with facts and his own personal insights.”
