UNDERGRADUATE

BACHELOR OF ARTS
The sociology major at CU Denver provides students data analytical skills and thematic expertise necessary to enter a variety of employment fields. Available fully online.

The sociology minor allows students to take these analytical skills and apply them to other disciplines. Available fully online.

BACHELOR OR ARTS IN SOCIOLOGY WITH A CONCENTRATION IN GENDER & SOCIETY
The concentration in Gender and Society equips students to critically evaluate the role of gender in society and address contemporary problems like the gender pay gap, health disparities, family roles, gender violence, and human trafficking. Available fully online.

ONLINE
Sociology is among the first departments at CU Denver to offer all requirements for the BA degree completely online.  Online students are able to engage with faculty on research projects and to conduct the type of supervised research that is required to graduate with Sociology Honors.

GRADUATE

The graduate programs in sociology provide students with empirical research skills and leverages work and internship opportunities to prepare them to enter, or assume higher responsibility, in careers in research, government, higher education, health care, and nonprofit services. Graduates are also well prepared for entry into the nation’s top Ph.D. programs in Sociology.  

COMBINED BA/MA (4+1)
Students can earn their undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA) degrees in just five (5) years! 


MASTER OF ARTS
The MA Program in sociology provides a coherent, progressive, educational experience that prepares students for either immediate entry to a master’s level career or continued study in Ph.D. programs.

CERTIFICATES

Certificates offered in Community Health & Medicine, Criminology, Families & Social Welfare, and Justice, Allyship, Diversity & Equity (JADE) provide students depth of knowledge in these areas and an additional credential that is valuable for pursuing careers in these fields. Certificates offered by the Sociology department can be earned fully online by majors and non-majors alike.
