The Sociology Club is a welcoming community for CU Denver students of all interests, backgrounds and majors. Join The Sociology Club meeting to build your campus and career connections and deepen your knowledge of current events. 

WJS Keep On Truckin' Scholarship

The WJS Keep on Truckin’ Scholarship, made possible by the generous giving of an alumnus, assists Sociology majors who have financial need continue their studies. Applicants must have completed 45 credit hours or more (preference is given to students with more credit hours) and have a 3.0 minimum GPA. Apply by October 15.

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD)

AKD, the international honor society for Sociology, promotes excellence in the study of Sociology. Membership is open to Sociology majors, minors and graduate students who have at least a junior standing and completed at least four Sociology courses with a 3.0 GPA or better (undergraduate students) or have completed at least one semester of courses and a GPA of "B" or better (graduate students). Lifetime membership is $50. American Sociological Association

The ASA is the national organization for the field of Sociology that provides valuable educational and career information for students, professionals, and lay people alike. Resources and information about membership can be found on its website.

Internships

The Experiential Learning Center connects students with internships that provide valuable, real world experience. Building your skills by completing an internship, or engaging in volunteer work, complements your college education and appeals to employers. Students who have completed 15 or more credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of 2.00 may apply for an internship. Each credit hour of internship requires about 40 hours of contact with the internship site.

Assistantships

Assistantships in the Sociology Department are available for undergraduate and graduate students each semester. These positions may focus on research, teaching or department tasks, and provide an excellent opportunity to learn through working for the department. For more information, contact Dr. Maren Scull (undergraduate students) or Dr. Adam Lippert (graduate students).
