*NEW* BA in Sociology with a concentration in Gender and Society!
Beginning Fall 2019, the Department of Sociology will offer students the option of earning a BA in Sociology with a concentration in Gender and Society. Students must complete a combination of Sociology and Women and Gender Studies courses for the Gender and Society track. Those who pursue this concentration simultaneously earn a minor in Women’s and Gender studies. A concentration in Gender and Society provides students with an understanding of how gender plays a crucial role in the experiences of females, males, and gender non-conforming individuals. The interdisciplinary nature of the concentration enables students to develop the skills to critically evaluate the ways in which inequality, oppression, and social structure play a role in various social problems such as the pay gap, sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The Gender and Society concentration equips students for jobs in a variety of areas such as advocacy, counseling, public health, policy-making and government, business, and criminal justice. Contact the Sociology Undergraduate Advisor, Maren Scull, email@example.com, for more information about the program.
The Department of Sociology is one of the first departments at the University of Colorado Denver to offer all the requirements needed to complete a major completely online. It is even possible for on-line students to engage with faculty on research projects, and to conduct supervised research required to graduate with Sociology Honors.
The MA degree is fueled by one-on-one teamwork with a faculty member. Combined with a set of core courses in upper level sociology, graduate students create a project or thesis based on original research. Find the MA program details and graduate requirements in the Graduate Handbook.
