Funding Opportunities

Outstanding Undergraduate in Public Health

In Fall 2021, the Health and Behavioral Sciences department will recognize up to two graduating students by awarding them "Outstanding Undergraduate in Public Health." This award is intended to honor Public Health majors who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to public health during their time at CU Denver. In addition to performing well in public health coursework, this commitment could be demonstrated through public health-related contributions to campus or the community and/or leadership in the Public Health program. Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by faculty. Please reference the link below for more information about eligibility and how to apply or visit our website to learn more about previous recipients. The deadline for Summer/Fall 2021 is September 29.

Learning Resource Center Workshops and Coaching Sessions

The Learning Resource Center is a resource to help you figure out what learning strategies work best for your skills, then strengthen those skills and teach you new techniques along the way. The LRC offers group workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and tutoring to support your success.

Online Workshops with Student Lingo

CU Denver is excited to announce the launch of Student Lingo. This resource is offered in addition to our long-standing Writing Center, there to help with your essays and research papers, and the Learning Resource Center, which provides tutoring for the most challenging classes as well as facilitated workshops on Zoom. Lingo has workshops around stress and time management, online communication, mental and emotional well-being, studying, and more.

Mental Health Resources for Students

​There are a wealth of health and wellness resources available at no cost to students both on campus and virtually. Many of those resources can be found on LynxConnect on the Health & Wellness page. Here are some of the resources available to you for mental health counseling and intervention:

  • The CU Denver Student and Community Counseling Center is providing counseling and mental health services via telehealth and online video calls from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Call (303) 315-7270. 
  • The Health Center at Auraria has counselors who can help with undue stress or anxiety, for no charge. Call (303) 615-9999 and schedule a consultation.
  • Colorado Crisis Services provides 24/7 free, confidential, immediate support for any mental health or substance abuse concern. Call 1-844-493-8255 or text TALK to 38255 to speak to a trained professional.
  • The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) can help you find treatment options for substance use disorders.
  • The Phoenix Center at Auraria provides free and confidential assistance to survivors of interpersonal violence (relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking), as well as their friends, families, and concerned others. The full range of the victim services program will be accessible while the campus is operating remotely. Confidential appointments will be conducted via Zoom or telephone and can be scheduled here. The confidential helpline remains available 24/7 at (303) 556-2255.
  • The Arthur and Helen E. Johnson Colorado Depression Center, operated by CU Anschutz, is offering telehealth services.

CU Denver Food Pantry Options On and Off Campus

CU Denver students have access to free food and hygiene products at the Lynx Food Pantry located on the 3rd Level in the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center. All students are allocated 10 points each week to use on items from the Lynx Food Pantry, whether it just be to grab a snack for a day or to help out with a meal, just make sure to bring your student ID.

If you are not able to make it to campus, CU Denver has partnered with Food Bank of the Rockies to offer a mobile food bank. The next two dates are September 27 and September 28. Learn more on their website. 

CU Denver has also partnered with Miller Farms to distribute boxes of free farm-fresh produce to the CU Denver community. You are required to register in advance for the program. The next pick-up date is September 15 if you register by the end of the day today, September 10. Learn more on their website.

If you are in a position to make donations to the CU Denver food pantry, you may drop off your donations at our department's administrative office. There is a white collection bin by the front desk. Find us in the North Classroom building in room 3018.

CU Denver Introduces Student Meal Plans

The new Lynx Crossing building on campus is home to a dining hall that is open to all students. There are a number of low-cost meal plans that cover meals on campus. Check the link below for information about plan options and pricing.
