BA to MA plan in Economics Plan (4+1)

Overview

The B.A. to M.A. plan in economics (4+1) allows qualified undergraduate students to take graduate level economic courses and count them towards their B.A. degree in economics.  After completing the B.A. in economics, up to 12 graduate level ECON credits taken as an undergraduate student may be counted again towards the M.A. in Economics degree.  

Students following the B.A. to M.A. plan are not required to pursue the M.A. degree in economics at CU Denver after earning their B.A. degree.  Students are encouraged to follow this plan to prepare for graduate study in economics or related fields.

Admission requirements

1. Be a current CU Denver Economics major.
2. Graduate Advisor’s approval is required to register for ECON 5000+ courses.
3. With the Graduate Advisor’s approval, B.A. to M.A. students may have the GRE and letters of recommendation waived when applying to the MA in Economics or MS in Health Economics programs.
