Thank You for a Successful Semester
As this semester comes to a close, the weather turns cold, and the days grow shorter, I find myself once again reflecting on the outstanding job everyone in our college did in coming together to meet the challenges we faced this term. I hope all of you got a chance during Thanksgiving to take a breath and think about all that makes you grateful. I can’t say enough how grateful I am for the CLAS community and all the hard work from all of you that went into making our students successful this semester.
I want to remind all of you to take care of yourselves as we head into a break overshadowed by the worsening COVID-19 situation. That care can come in many forms, but at a most basic level please wear your mask and practice social distancing when you need to interact with the world outside your home. During these short, winter days (over the past week it feels like the sun is only shining during the hours we’re busy zooming) it’s easy to get bogged down in negative thought and behavior patterns. But the rapidly approaching New Year offers a chance to reflect on how we’d like to meet the challenges that 2021 will bring, and how we plan to be changed by them for the better.
Finally, I was asked by the CU Denver Committee on the Status of Women to remind all of you about policies related to caregiving resources featured in our Human Resources pages and FAQs. As COVID-19 cases increase in Colorado, members of our community (including our students) may face ongoing, renewed, or emerging challenges in meeting child or elder care commitments. Please look to these resources for answers and support.
I wish all of you a restful and healthy break, and I look forward to sharing 2021 with my CLAS coworkers and community.
