Partnering with the Office of Advancement
The fundraising work done by the Office of Advancement is critical to the mission of our college, now maybe more than ever. Our major gifts officer, Alison Fernandez, and her team work tirelessly for the benefit of our students and our university, bringing in scholarship money and other funds that impact CU Denver for the better.
Advancement values its partnerships with faculty and staff, and to that end the new Advancement Website has a lot of great resources and information for those of us who interact with them. Figuring out best practices can be tough when it comes to raising money, but this new site can help when you or your students have questions about crowd funding, events that raise money for campus initiatives, or accepting and processing donations. For our advancement team, establishing and maintaining relationships with faculty and staff is essential to bringing in the dollars that further the university's mission. We should feel comfortable reaching out to them with questions and suggestions as well.
And now a reminder, the university recently established the CU Denver Employee Emergency Relief Fund to support faculty and staff experiencing emergency situations; such as food insecurity, housing assistance, and unexpected medical expenses. As with our student emergency fund (the Loving Lynx Fund) the employee relief fund comes from the generosity of our community, and thanks to an anonymous donor the first $2,500 in gifts are being matched dollar for dollar. Please know that this fund is here for you, and please take advantage of it should you need it.
I thank all of you for the direct support many of you give to our programs and students, and for the partnerships you help our advancement team build with the community.
