A Guide for Inclusive Content in Electronic Media

Home

Content in websites, social media, e-mail, and other electronic media must adhere to CU Denver’s non-discrimination policy of equal opportunity and access. These policies are described in detail on the University website.

The key laws the college follows are those defined in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA). Both Section 504 and the ADA require that the university provide equal opportunity to individuals with disabilities to participate in, and to receive the benefits of, educational programs and content, and to require that the university provide accommodation or modifications when necessary to ensure equal access.

These regulations from W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (Level AA) are described and adhered to in training provided to manage electronic media and websites using the college content management system Drupal Web Express. This website is intended to strengthen and to support the college’s communication about and commitment to equal access to content distributed throughout the college in various digital formats.

Instructions, examples, and resources include additonal material to accompany training in how to follow university best practices and policies for ensuring content is produced and managed effectively to ensure ADA compliance and accessibility on multiple electronic devices and in multipe formats.
