CU Denver students, staff & faculty are invited to this free online workshop with Dr. Josie Lehrer, Founder/Director of the Men’s Story Project (MSP) – a cutting-edge movement-building project for healthy masculinities that’s spreading in the U.S. and abroad. The MSP creates powerful events and media that feature men and masculine-identifying folx publicly sharing bold stories that examine social notions of masculinity with the goal of promoting health and equity for all people. In each MSP event, the presenters share candid stories on topics such as gender stereotypes, relationships, sexuality, violence, LGBTQIA+ issues, and mental health, and intersections with race and other aspects of identity. The MSP has been featured on CNN and received a ShareCare Emmy and Harvard Public Health Innovator Award. At this event, we’ll discuss links between notions of masculinity and diverse social issues, watch and discuss powerful videos of MSP presenters’ stories, and discuss how everyone can take action for gender justice. This is intended to be a safe space for dialogue. Attendees of all genders are welcome! Presented by CU Denver Department of Sociology & Supported by the CLAS Council for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
