A recent NSF S-STEM award (to PI David Mays in Civil Engineering) will provide scholarships (up to $10,000 per year for up to 5 years) for Indigenous students to receive their BS from CU Denver in biology, GES, or civil engineering concurrent with their completion of the new CLAS certificate in Environmental Stewardship of Indigenous Lands (ESIL). Timberley Roane, PhD (Lumbee), Associate Professor of Integrative Biology, is very excited by this news, which directly complements last fall's receipt of the NSF INCLUDES award - which provided support for the development of the ESIL program.
