Abstract

Additive Manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, refers to processes that fabricate materials layer by layer, greatly expanding the freedom of manufacturing materials and structures. However, how to fully exploit the potential of AM remains a challenge for designers, engineers, and researchers. In this seminar, different types of AM processes will be explored, with a particular focus on resin-based 3D printing. Resin printing enables material innovation through light-induced chemical reactions that solidify liquid resins. Understanding these reactions is key to enhancing properties such as strength and durability. The seminar will also introduce design for AM methodologies, which help integrate material behavior with structural design. Future perspectives will be discussed, highlighting how advances in materials chemistry can further expand the capabilities of additive manufacturing.
