Abstract
The interface between nutrition and circadian health is complex and multifaceted with the type of nutrition, the route and timing of intake playing significant roles. In this talk I will present our most recent findings that explore how intravenous (parenteral) nutrition desynchronizes normal circadian signaling between the gut and the liver and how targeting bile acid homeostasis as well as nutritional content can be beneficial in cholestatic liver disease. These studies demonstrate that not only what we eat but how and when we eat are important factors in maintaining human health.
