The information below is intended for incoming CLAS students who have already attended a New Student Orientation Registration Day. After completing your Registration Day, follow the CLAS New Student Academic Advising Timeline for next steps and resources

All incoming CLAS students are required to complete New Student Orientation including Registration Day. During Registration Day, you will learn about campus resources, receive an overview of degree requirements, and receive assistance on course registration for your first semester.

  • CLAS Major Advising: Connect with your Major Advisor to plan your major requirements

  • Health Professions Advising: Connect with a Health Professions Advisor to plan a course of study designed for your pre-health track

Degree Requirements  

  • UCDAccess: Log in to your student portal to register for classes and access your degree audit tools

  • Degree Audit Tools: Check your degree progress, plan for future semesters, and review your transfer evaluation  

  • Degree Maps: Find information regarding degree requirements and major department contacts

Courses to Consider


Placement Tests
Take the following placement tests (if needed) to register for the appropriate courses based on your scores. 

  • ALEKS: Math placement (check with your advisor or the degree map for your major to see if you need to take the ALEKS exam)  

  • GCAT: General Chemistry Readiness Assessment (recommended for CHEM 2031 & 2038)  

  • Language Placement Exams: Modern Language placement for French, German, and Spanish
