New Student Landing Page

Whether you are new to college or transferring to CU Denver, CLAS Advising is here to help you get started. Review the New Student Advising Checklist in preparation for Orientation Academic Success Day.

All new first-year students in CLAS* are required to complete an initial advising appointment via an Academic Success Day facilitated through the New Student Orientation (NSO) office. During this appointment, you will learn about campus resources, meet one-on-one with a CLAS Advisor, receive an overview of degree requirements, and receive assistance on course registration for your first semester.

We look forward to working with you soon!

*Please note that if you are undeclared or pre-architecture, and not a declared CLAS Major, you will need to contact the Center for Undergraduate Exploration and Advising (CUE&A) at (303)315-1940 or cuea@ucdenver.edu for initial advising information.

As a new incoming transfer student in CLAS*, your initial academic advising requirement is to complete a Transfer Academic Success program as part of a New Student Orientation. During this session, a CLAS Academic Advisor will review your official transfer credit evaluation and degree audit, provide an overview of advising and degree requirements and will be able to assist with your initial course registration process. Your college advising hold will be removed during Transfer Academic Success Day, and you will be assigned to a designated CLAS Academic Advisor the next business day after the session you attended.

Before your Transfer Academic Success Day you will receive an email from CLAS Advising with a personalized "Transfer Advising Summary Sheet"  for your reference. This will include:

  • Your student and degree or program information
  • A section to help you identify key people and resources, including the Academic Calendar
  • Information about the transcripts or score reports we’ve received
  • Notes about coursework we identified as in progress
  • And additional information about your student record at CU Denver
  • Please review all of this information carefully and discuss any questions you have with a CLAS Advisor on Academic Success Day.
