Outstanding Undergraduate in Public Health

In Fall 2021, the Program in Public Health will recognize up to two graduating students by awarding them "Outstanding Undergraduate in Public Health." This award is intended to honor two graduating PBHL students who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to public health during their time at CU Denver. In addition to performing well in public health coursework, this commitment could be demonstrated through public health-related contributions to campus or the community and/or leadership in the Public Health program. Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by faculty. Please reference the link below for more information about eligibility and how to apply or visit our website to learn more about previous recipients. The deadline for Summer/Fall 2021 has been extended to October 6.

RMPHTC Student Leaders in Public Health

The goal of the Student Leaders in Public Health program is to enhance the public health workforce in the Rocky Mountain region, specifically in rural and under-served communities and populations, by supporting students conducting applied health projects and providing opportunities for mentoring and professional development. During the 2021–22 academic year, the RMPHTC will award 27 students $3,500 in financial support to assist with public health field placements and faculty-student collaborative projects. EURēCA! Grant Deadline October 8th

The EURēCA! Grant Program (formerly UROP) is a competitive grant program managed by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities. EURēCA Grants support original student-driven research, creative, and other scholarly activities under the mentorship of a CU Denver | Anschutz faculty mentor. Grants of $500 are administered each October and February to be used on project supplies, conference and workshop registration, and/or travel costs. The deadline to apply is October 8, 2021.

Sustaining Behavior Change free virtual conference

Friday, October 15 & Friday, October 22: The Sustaining Behavior Change Conference grows from the belief that limitations in our ability to help people make lasting changes in their health-related behaviors is one of the greatest challenges to the well-being of our population. Whether it is adopting healthy eating and physical activity habits, or curtailing the use of unhealthy substances or behaviors, people seem able to initiate behavior change, but a range of forces typically lead to a return of previous behaviors.

  • Sept 28, 3:30pm, Zoom: Fireside Chat with Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, acclaimed pediatrician, scientist, activist, and author of “What the Eyes Don’t See,” a story about uncovering the Flint Water Crisis and leading recovery efforts. The event will discuss public health issues that adversely affect underrepresented and underserved communities within the United States and locally. Register online.
