News and Announcements - PBHL Newsletter August 27, 2021

PBHL Header

Welcome all to the 2021-2022 academic year! The faculty and staff in the Public Health Program are excited to welcome you back on campus and online. Throughout the school year, we will use this biweekly newsletter to share public health-related events, deadline reminders, and campus resources. Please feel free to send us content to share via HBSAdminSupport@ucdenver.edu.

Although we remain in unsettled times, there is much to be optimistic about for the coming year. I look forward to our department’s first in-person colloquium speaker in 18 months, working from campus again, and seeing students and faculty in the halls. At the same time, I am grateful for the online tools we relied on last year and will continue to use moving forward, such as Zoom workshops and office hours that can facilitate broad and dynamic participation. Flexibility will be critical again this year as we adjust to the ever-changing epidemiological context. Let’s re-commit to being flexible and understanding with each other and with ourselves.

Have a great start to your year, and remember that faculty, staff, PBHL advisors, and administration are all here to support you.

Sara Yeatman, PhD
Department Chair

Return to Campus COVID-19 Information

Vaccine Verification and Scheduling a Vaccine on Campus

All students, faculty, and staff are required to get a COVID-19 vaccine or file for an exemption on the basis of medical, religious, or personal reasons. To fulfill this requirement, please self-disclose your vaccination status by today, August 27th using the online form. As a reminder, all individuals regardless of vaccination status must wear a mask at all times indoors.

For more information about COVID-19 guidelines, please visit the CU Denver Coronavirus page.

Scheduling a Vaccine on Campus

If you have not yet been vaccinated, you can schedule a vaccine on campus. All COVID-19 vaccines are free. For vaccine questions, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment provides a toll-free hotline available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 1-877-COVAXCO (1-877-268-2926). Click the link below to schedule your vaccine on campus.

COVID-19 Testing

If you submit for a vaccine exemption, you will automatically be routed into a mandatory COVID-19 weekly testing program through Primary Bio. The testing program offers both on- and off-campus locations to conduct saliva or nasal testing (the type of test is dependent on the testing location) free of charge. If you are part of the routine testing program, you will receive an email from Primary Health each week with the link to schedule your test.

Schedule a Rapid Test

Reporting an Exposure

If you do test positive for COVID-19 or have an exposure regardless of your vaccination status, please report the exposure to the school using this form. If you have been exposed and you are fully vaccinated (with NO symptoms), you do not need to quarantine and you can return to campus. You must be diligent and symptom watch for the 2 weeks following exposure. It is HIGHLY recommended that you be tested on day 5 after your last day of exposure. If any new symptoms arise, or if you are tested and receive a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, you must isolate and fill out a new self-report form indicating a positive test.
