The Michael S. Gorniak Award Winners in Creative Writing for the 2024-2025 academic year are Aidan Schuttler and Sojo Benavente.
Michael Stewart Gorniak was an ebullient spirit and a tireless writer, always searching for new ways to express himself, improve his art, and to help others. Michael worked for the UCD Student Newspaper and in the UCD Writing Center and in various efforts in the Denver Metro community to create support networks for artists. More than anything, Michael wanted to change the world with his words. We dedicate this award every year in his memory.
