Programs

Training in basic economic theory, the use of statistical techniques to analyze economic phenomena, and more specific fields within economics, such as labor economics, international trade, developing and transitional economies, and money and banking.

Five courses (15 hours) are required for the CU Denver economics minor that include courses in macroeconomics, microeconomics and upper division courses.

Together with the Mathematics Department, the Business School, and the School of Public Affairs, the Department offers four dual degree progrmas. We also offer a five-year BA/MA program in Economics.

Extensive training in mathematical and quantitative analysis, including substantial exposure to econometrics and forecasting, working with large and diverse data sets, and a wide range of statistical software.

The M.S. program emphasizes extensive training in the mathematical and quantitative analysis of health and health care systems, including substantial exposure to applied econometrics, working with large and diverse data sets related to health care delivery and health outcomes, and a wide range of statistical software. 

The Ph.D. in Health Economics is a collaborative program among faculty in the Department of Economics and the Department of Health Systems, Management & Policy.  The program trains scientists to engage in state-of-the-art economic research on questions pertinent to the health care sector and to personal and public health.
