Each summer, the Denver Writing Project offers a week-long Advanced Institute for educators to develop their own writing and work on becoming better teachers of writing.
Teachers from all disciplines and all grade levels are welcome to join us for a week committed to themselves and each other as we continue to develop our skills as teachers/writers. During the week we’ll write, study effective practices in the teaching of writing and attend short seminars offered by professional writers from our area.
This year our Advanced Institute is FREE! (And it's totally online!)
Advanced Institute Theme: That Teaching Vibe
The past few months have strengthened, refined, and challenged what it means to teach. In order to reflect on and record these experiences, our 2020 Advanced Institute will explore avenues for personal and professional writing about our profession. Activities include:
Writing into the day and sharing on Zoom.
Virtual demonstrations from professional writers and educators (in partnership with the Invitational Summer Institute).
The chance to write and publish your personal statement of belief about teaching.
Encouragement and feedback from other writers.
This is a new and different landscape for all kinds of teaching, learning, and writing. We hope you'll join us as we explore this new terrain!
The DWP will provide a certificate for completion of 30 hours of professional development.
Please feel free to invite colleagues and friends to attend the Advanced Institute. You don't have to be an alumni of the Invitational Summer Institute to partake in this week-long writing and professional development opportunity.
