In October, Christopher Phiel, Assistant Professor of Integrative Biology, was invited by the Science Club at Front Range Community College to speak about CRISPR genome editing. Phiel teaches about CRISPR and similar techniques in his Introduction to Molecular Biology class, and has students perform their own CRISPR experiments in his Molecular Biology Lab class. The response was quite impressive, with over 60 FRCC students, faculty and staff attending the standing room only talk, demonstrating the interest that CRISPR is generating in our community.
