Assistant Professor of Health and Behavioral Sciences Ivan Ramírez recently published, “Geography of Disparity: Connecting COVID-19 Vulnerability and Social Determinants of Health in Colorado”, featured in the Special Issue on COVID-19 and Adverse Social Determinants of Health in Behavioral Medicine. Using an exploratory geospatial approach and syndemic lens, the study investigated spatial patterns of COVID-19 incidence rates and contextual factors across Colorado. The study findings indicate that COVID-19 risk is multivariate, increasing with social and health vulnerabilities that vary locally across Colorado.
