Kate Hayes, PhD student Integrated Biology, was recently awarded a GRIN (Graduate Research Innovation Grant) to expand her work focusing on vegetation succession (and in particular how changes in the post-fire communities alter flammability, testing the overall strength of negative feedback associated with the transition to deciduous species in the boreal forests of Alaska).
