Center for Faculty Development introducing Communities of Practice

Starting in Spring, CFD is organizing three new groups dedicated to discovering knowledge and nurturing community around the work faculty do as educators.  Each Communities of Practice (CoP) is organized around a topic and faculty participate by engaging in discussion, sharing ideas, and resources.  Each CoP meets 5 times over the Spring semester over lunch or breakfast.  Faculty participants will receive $400 in professional development funds:

Ratcheting Up Research
Meets Fridays, 9:00-10:30, February 2 & 16, March 16, April 6 & 20
Optimize the relationship between research and teaching to improve both student learning outcomes and faculty productivity.

Diving Deeper into Diversity
Meets Fridays, 11-12:30 pm on January 26, February 16, March 9, April 6 & 27
Explore the complexities of teaching about diversity and building equitable and inclusive learning environments.

Engaging with Denver
Meets Fridays, 12:00-1:30 pm February 9, 16, 23, March 2, 9
Member of this CoP will collectively think through easy and practical ways to bring community engagement into their teaching.
