CU Denver’s Archaeology program has expanded its hands-on learning opportunities with a significant donation of animal bones from Bradley Bowman, facilitated by anthropology student Michelle Wilson. The collection, which includes bison, pronghorn, and other regional wildlife and was formerly housed in a New Mexico museum, provides students with a unique opportunity to study skeletal remains firsthand. Dr. Jamie Hodgkins discussed the importance of this resource in training students to identify animal species, a critical skill in archaeological research. This addition ensures that students gain practical experience in acquiring, curating, and preserving the collection that prepares them for careers in contact archaeology and beyond.
