Embodying Belief: Bioarchaeologies of Religious Identity
Lauren Hosek is a historical bioarchaeologist and an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at University of Colorado, Boulder. She holds a PhD. in Anthropology from Syracuse University. Her research focuses on embodied experiences of religious identity, institutional practices, and structural and interpersonal violence. She has ongoing projects in early medieval Central Europe and the 19th century American West. Her research integrates skeletal analysis, material culture and historical narratives to address the interactions between human bodies and their broader social, cultural and physical environments. These projects have been funded by the National Science Foundation and Wenner-Gren Foundation.
