The key start of the semester enrollment deadlines have passed. We're in the thick of it now! But you can get ahead of the remainder of the game by checking out the Spring 2023 Academic calendar!

Congratulations! Just don't forget to meet with an advisor to make sure you're on track and to declare for graduation. We don't want any unexpected surprises disrupting our May celebrations.

Fight Food Insecurity on Campus! The CU Denver Food Pantry is located on Level 3 of the Salazar Student Wellness Center in the Wellness Suite. The Pantry provides students free access to food and hygiene items. Please consider dropping items off for those in need.

Let's Go Clubbing! The Sociology Club meets every other Wednesday from 10am-12pm drop-in style (come when you can!) at the Vibe coffee shop at 1490 Curtis Street. The next meeting is February 15!

Honoring Black History. In honor of Black History Month, the Denver Public Library is sponsoring a series of events ranging from pop-up exhibits highlighting local Black artists to Black History Month scavenger hunts. Details available

Adri Norris's stunning work offers viewers a lesson in Colorado history, inspiring words from local activist Ava Hamilton, and an amazing list of books on social justice. Westword has the full story. 

Our department is excited to offer a big congratulations to first-year Master's student, Maxwell Cornett, on the publication of their article, "Queerness and Validation: A Study of Gender Expression and Perception", in Carleton College's Undergraduate Journal of Humanistic Studies. Our House. Westword has a great story on the last rowhouses riding out the wave of multi-story apartment building construction that has transformed Denver's RiNo district.

Water Woes. The consequences of climate change continue to be felt regionally as diminishing supplies from the Colorado River challenge the seven states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming) who depend on its water. The Colorado Sun has coveraged on the efforts of US Senators' from the affected states to reach an agreement on sharing access to the river.

Tragic Earthquake in Turkey. Our hearts go out to our colleagues from Turkey and their compatriots as rescue attempts and aid efforts remain underway following last week's destructive earthquake. Follow The Guardian's coverage.
