Bio

Dr. Lorine Hughes is a sociologist/criminologist who earned a PhD in Sociology from Washington State University in 2003. Her scholarly interests include crime and delinquency, quantitative research methods, and spatial and social network analyses. Dr. Hughes has taught a range of sociology and criminology courses, including introduction to sociology; social problems; gang patterns and policies; criminological theory; corrections; race, crime and justice; crime analysis; and undergraduate and graduate-level statistics. She has published numerous book monographs, book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles appearing in leading sociology/criminology journals, such as Criminal Justice and Behavior, Criminology, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, Justice Quarterly, Journal of Quantitative Criminology, European Journal of Criminology, Journal of Youth and Adolescence, and Social Forces. She is currently Co-Editor of Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency.
