The Sociology Department at the University of Colorado Denver is pleased to offer to the public a brand new continuing and professional education noncredit program at a convenient Wheat Ridge location this summer! The following course is unfortunately cancelled. 

The Final Act: Exploring Dying, Death & End-Of-Life 

Join CU Denver Sociology Professor, Teresa Cooney, for a summer course discussing various questions about death. This program is open to the public and is suitable for anyone who is interested in engaging in a rich discussion around the following topics:

  • What is a “good death”?
  • Is the U.S. a death-denying society?
  • Against embalming? What other options exist?
  • Most Americans prefer to die at home—why most don’t get their wish.
  • What does advance care planning involve?
  • What can we learn from other cultures about death and dying?
  • How are the Internet and social media changing how we mourn?

Course Dates:

5 Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 8:30pm, July 17, 2018 – August 14, 2018

Course Location:

Wheat Ridge Recreation Center (4005 Kipling St. Wheat Ridge, CO 80033). Note that there is plenty of free parking available at the center.

Registration Information:

Enrollment for The Final Act: Exploring Dying, Death & End-Of-Life is no longer available. Unfortunately, this course is cancelled. 

The total cost for the 5 session course is $199.

Please note that this program is offered as a noncredit course and will not appear on any CU Denver transcripts or apply towards any degree programs. However, students may receive a certificate of attendance for an additional $25.
