Friday, August 25 at 11:30 AM, NC 5018 (students register here).

This workshop is intended for current CLAS juniors and seniors with plans to pursue research and attend graduate school or for first-year graduate students. This workshop will provide an overview of the program, the application process, and tips for preparing an application. The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) seeks to broaden participation in science and engineering of underrepresented groups, including women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and veterans. The five-year fellowship provides three years of financial support inclusive of tuition and an annual stipend of at least $37,000. Supported areas of study include the Biological Sciences, Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Engineering, Geosciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences, and Education and Human Resources. GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who have demonstrated the potential to be high achieving scientists and engineers, early in their careers. Applicants must be pursuing full-time research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education at accredited US institutions. Applications are accepted from students planning to attend or already enrolled in the first or second year of a graduate program. Applications for the GRFP are submitting in the fall of each year.
