Leora Ovadia serves as the INTS program’s representative on the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, a body that meets 2-3 times per semester to provide feedback and insight to the CLAS Dean, Pamela Jansma, and the Dean’s office regarding CLAS policies, processes, academic programs, and other student issues relevant to CLAS. Leora’s aim is to pursue an MA and PhD to produce scholarship about the Middle East that examines how colonialism has historically impacted the region. Leora is committed to social justice and uses that commitment as a foundation to interpret political science. Leora works as a Testing Assistant at CU Denver’s Disability Resources and Services (DRS), preparing tests and accommodations for all students registered at the university with DRS. Additionally, Leora serves as: Secretary, Middle East Student Association; Volunteer and ESL Tutor, International Rescue Committee; and mentor, Mentorship Collective, which provides younger students with mentors to guide them in their college experience. Leora is studying Arabic but also knows some Hebrew and understands a little Japanese.
