We are honored to celebrate Dr. Breger Bush as the winner of the 2022 CU Denver campus-wide Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Breger Bush confidently and effectively organizes her INTS courses around “the most pressing international/global issue here on campus.” Doing so makes her courses instantly relevant and personally meaningful to the students enrolled. In having students democratically decide the content of the course in close consultation with her, it becomes the perfect experience for INTS majors about to embark on their post-graduation adventures. The time spent deliberating, educating one another, and “deciding how and to what end we are all going to work together for the semester” is an ideal approach, both professionally and personally. Dr. Breger Bush’s teaching approach is admirable, inspiring, and well-deserving of this award. The level of personal growth, professional skill, and camaraderie that Dr. Breger Bush has fostered in her INTS courses is truly commendable.
