INTS minor, Emily Provenza, is soon to graduate. She is now working for the U.S. embassy in London. Below, she describes her work.

"I work in the same section (Public Affairs) as a locally employed staff. I'm a researcher for the section and web editor for the embassy website among other bits and bobs. I was incredibly fortunate to have landed the internship as I'm confident it is the main contributing factor to my current role (and I suppose marrying a Brit helped too). Every time I see a DOS [Department of State] internship email go out from INTS, I get excited thinking about what opportunities this might open for future interns. I'm enjoying my work at the moment and trying not to get too ahead of myself, due to the pandemic circumstance. However, I have a growing interest in the POL [political] section and would be open to a transition if the opportunity were to open. In the meantime, I am looking at taking the FSOT [Foreign Service Officer Test] at the end of next year once travel looks more promising. And I have academic goals to gain a masters as well as possibly more at some point. So, lots of interests and we'll see what opens up first. […] it doesn't matter your background if you are interested in a direction and say yes to the little opportunities that come your way bigger doors start to open.”
