Spring 2019 Student Survey Summary

Published: April 8, 2019

Dear INTS Students:

Thank you to students who completed the spring 2019 INTS program student survey. We use your feedback to adjust and improve the program. Below is a summary of key issues and responses.

First, we recognize that finding language, focus theme, and zone courses can be challenging. The University will soon pilot a one-year scheduling system, which should help improve planning. However, students may want to work directly with the Modern Languages Department in order to identify substitute courses in advance, in case certain courses are not offered. Also, we are happy to accept pre-approved courses completed elsewhere (including online) for transfer credit in alignment with CLAS policy. Note, CLAS now requires students to complete the Brigham Young University online language proficiency exam if they plan to demonstrate proficiency in ways other than a college transcript.

Second, some students have expressed interest in undergraduate research. We support this! Please mention your interests to your professors and explore ways to develop your research ideas. We have independent studies, honors theses, and undergraduate publication opportunities. Check out these resources as well: http://www.ucdenver.edu/research/ResearchAreas/Pages/UndergraduateResear...

Finally, please try to make some time for networking in the city. To support this, we have created an INTS program LinkedIn group. Numerous international organizations in Denver are also happy to host student groups. Talk to us about organizing a fieldtrip.

We have not mentioned every item of feedback in the survey here, but if you would like to chat with us about your ideas and suggestions, we want to hear from you. Please stop by and let us know your thoughts.

Thank you.

Regards,

Hamilton and Alison
