Attached is the Fall 2021 Finals Schedule. The department is listed as a tab in the spreadsheet. Please let Kim Regier know if you have any conflicts or changes needed. For remote sections pleases refer to the attached PDF that has the finals schedule grid and assign your final based on the time that the grid has listed. For example, if your class is on MW 8-9:15 the final will be on Monday of finals week from 8-10am. If you have a recitation or lab that you manage within your department, please disregard. 

CLAS Council on Diversity and Inclusion DIIF Grants support projects that encourage people to think about diversity, equity, and inclusion in meaningful ways and to make positive changes in CLAS and the broader campus.

Examples of projects related to diversity and inclusion goals that the DIIF will support include but are not limited to

· Hosting speakers, symposia, and conferences

· Developing and providing workshops on best practices and pedagogies

· Showcasing diversity, equity, and inclusion work

· Improving policies and procedures within the college

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to apply for rolling grants (of up to $500) or a deadline grant of up to $2500. The deadline for the fall is October 8.

The EURēCA! Grant Program (formerly UROP) is a competitive grant program managed by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities. EURēCA Grants support original student-driven research, creative, and other scholarly activities under the mentorship of a CU Denver faculty mentor. Grants of $500 are administered each October and February to be used on project supplies, conference, and workshop registration, and/or travel costs.
Application Deadline for Fall: October 8, by 5pm.

The aim of this workshop is to:

·       create connections and collaborations among faculty through interdisciplinary research and creative activity themes;
·       organize faculty for the Provost’s Strategic Plan Research Symposium; and
·       set the stage as Dr. Bob Damrauer joins CLAS as Director of Collaborative Research Initiatives, where he will mentor faculty and oversee a grants program that fosters interdisciplinary research across CLAS departments.

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to meet with others with similar research interests and develop ideas for collaborations across disciplines that could lead to seed grant funding through CLAS Interdisciplinary Research Initiatives. These discussions might also help plan “pitches” for the Provost’s Strategic Plan Research Symposium. The Symposium sessions intend to identify focus areas that CU Denver should invest in strategically to enhance our impact and national prominence. Getting CLAS research ideas at the front of this effort is a high priority.

The registration form includes questions to help organize a productive workshop. Under each broad interdisciplinary theme, we have listed a wide variety of topics based on the research and creative activities we identified across the college. Note which interdisciplinary themes align with your interests and which topics fit with your research and creative activities. If we have missed any topics, please note these as well. Please register by October 12^th.

Have you encountered student resistance to your teaching–whether active learning, group projects, or designing more democratic classrooms? One of the reasons these teaching strategies can be such a tough sell to students is that they require more effort on the part of students. Faculty may be concerned about receiving negative evaluations as well as feelings of resentment among students who dislike being held accountable for their own learning. Join us for a workshop designed to provide you with reflection and feedback to help students overcome their resistance to these types of teaching strategies. Leave this session more empowered to lead conversations in your classroom to unite your students around your teaching strategies and get them on board with being accountable for their own learning. I hope your transition back to in-person engagement with our students is proceeding smoothly. If you are a faculty member with research or creative works as part of your workload, or you are a research support staff, please register for the Strategic Plan Research Symposium. This event consists of two 3-hour sessions designed to solicit your best ideas on what research and creative works focus areas CU Denver should invest in strategically to enhance our impact and national prominence. Please plan to attend both sessions, which will be hosted at the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center.

The CoorsTek Denver Metro Science and Engineering Fair is giving STEAM professionals the chance to meet with and share their career stories and scientific advice with middle and high school students, teachers, and families. Through these conversations, attendees are introduced to new career paths and learn that scientists are humans too. During the one hour long program, 3-4 STEAM professionals spend 5-10 minutes introducing themselves (as a PowerPoint presentation or just talking directly to the audience). After the speaker introductions, the last 30 minutes are for audience questions. Last year this program was very popular, and students asked questions ranging from sharing more details about what a day in the life of each speaker is to how to get scholarships and pick a college.
