My background is in nutrition, health education, and public health. Through continuing my education, I want to focus my scholarship on how food behaviors, the local food environment, and policy impact health and behaviors in underserved and marginalized populations. Some of the research questions I am interested to pursue are: the impact on health when food insecurity is compounded by other inequities in social determinants of health, how individual-based interventions (gardening, cooking education, food resource management) might reduce the health effects of food insecurity, how healthy food system supports impact community health over time, and how improvements in the neighborhood food environment affect dietary diversity and health.
