Drawing on multi-disciplinary theoretical and methodological perspectives, my research program interrogates health risk and resilience in the context of social inequalities across the life-course. My work thus brings a biopsychosocial focus to lifespan development. By incorporating national survey data with biomarker assessments and laboratory-based assessments of acute physiological reactivity and recovery, my research centers on 1) conceptualizing positive psychological characteristics and their role in healthy aging, 2) early-life circumstances that affect opportunities for good health across the life-course, and 3) examining biobehavioral mechanisms that link the social environment to morbidity and mortality across the life-course.
