Register for PBHL Electives
PBHL 1001 (Summer - Online) - Race, Gender, Class, and Health
This course focuses on the principles, tools, and population approach of social epidemiology as it relates health to race, gender, and class. Contemporary topics in public health will be used as case studies to illuminate principles and tools both in lecture and in recitation sections.
PBHL 3081 (Summer - Online) - Health in the City: Urban Health
This course introduces students to urban health and the various factors of the physical, social and health environments that affect well-being and vulnerability of communities and neighborhoods in cities. Note: This course will include a weekly collaborative assignment, a high-impact educational practice, that foster student engagement with active and problembased learning. Although not required, it would be helpful for students to have completed a 2000-level course from the undergraduate program in Public Health.

Certificate in Spanish for the Healthcare Professions
The Undergraduate Certificate in Spanish for the Healthcare Professions seeks to facilitate effective communication between healthcare professionals and their Spanish speaking patients and clients. To enhance mutual understanding, which is of critical importance within a healthcare setting, students will learn to speak, comprehend, read, and write in Spanish, with a focus on specialized vocabulary and medical communication, and will acquire intercultural competence.
This certificate is available to all students across the University, as well as non-degree-seeking professionals with a prior degree who are seeking to increase their skill set.
Public Health Club is a student-led organization focusing on fostering a community for those that are interested in furthering their knowledge about public health. Club members have the opportunity to network within the university and the field of Public Health itself, as well as participate in community service opportunities while cultivating lifelong friendships. Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month at 6pm over Zoom.
Are you a graduating PBHL senior? Have you conducted research, participated in an Internship, completed an Honors PBHL project, or engaged in any other public health related work during your career at CU Denver? If you answered yes to these questions, we invite you to give a 5 minute presentation to share your experiences at our Senior Showcase on April 18, 2023 from 11 AM - 1 PM at Student Commons 1401. We will serve lunch for all seniors at this event from 11 AM - 12 PM. Interested students, please RSVP here(please note, RSVP is required).
The Research and Creative Activities Symposium (RaCAS) is an annual opportunity for CU Denver undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their scholarly activities. Each year over 200 presenters share the research and creative projects they've worked on throughout the academic year. Together with peers, faculty, family, and friends they celebrate CU Denver's community of investigation and creative inquiry.
Show your support and spirit for Public Health and your peers by stopping in to engage with presenters and share in their accomplishments!
At the Campus Resource Fair during RaCAS, departments and programs will set up informational tables to share with students resources and research and creative activity (RCA) opportunities in your department or programs, as well as information about majors, minors, certificate programs, internships/jobs, and any other resources and opportunities you want to share with students. Please come prepared to share how students can get involved in RCA or find support through your resources or programs.
RaCAS is scheduled for Friday, April 28 9:00 am - 3:30 pm at the Lola and Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center. The Resource Fair will run from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm.

Student poster presentations will be ongoing during the student presentation time slots, so you can expect students (RaCAS presenters and attendees) to be walking through the resource fair throughout the 11:00 am – 1:30 pm time slot.

Work Study
Work-study is a financial aid award that allows undergraduate and graduate students to work part-time to earn money to pay for educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient's course of study. Students earning work-study funds are paid bi-weekly. If awarded work-study, students may search open positions on the Handshake Job Board.
