Sociology Event on Healthy Masculinities

The department of Sociology at CU Denver is hosting an event on February 16 from 6pm-8pm via Zoom. The event will feature a presentation on healthy masculinities hosted by the Director of the Men's Story Project, Josie Lehrer. The event will be composed of curated short videos where men present their stories about masculinity, stereoptypes, mental health issues and interpersonal violence. These personal stories focus on struggles that unhealthy views of masculinity present and give rise to, and how these individuals are working at resolving these issues to better their own lives and the lives of others. Intersectionality (with race/ethnicity, religion, disability status, etc) is a central theme as well. The event will include break-out rooms where attendees can discuss and react to these stories, and Dr. Lehrer will also address how to advocate for healthy change in societal views of and expectations for masculinity. Please email HBSAdminSupport@ucdenver.edu for Zoom information.
