Outstanding PhD Student Awards

Year End Evaluation and PhD Student Awards

Each year, PhD students are asked to complete a self-assesment of their progress in the PhD program. All HBS PhD students must complete this form linked below by March 31st. Information gathered in this form will be used by faculty to assess your progress in the program and will be included in your student file.

Additionally, if you would like to nominate yourself for one of our student awards, please be prepared to upload the supporting documents to the form:

HBS Doctoral Student Research Award: a first- or sole-authored manuscript (a paper published in the last 12 months, unpublished work in progress, or a dissertation chapter). 

HBS Doctoral Student Teaching Award: a 1-page, single spaced summary of your teaching activities for the last 12 months including a summary of FCQs, new courses developed, existing courses you prepped for the first time, creative approaches attempted in the classroom, or any other information you would like to submit in support of your teaching success. 

HBS Doctoral Student Service Award: a 1-page, single spaced summary of your major services activities to the department, the profession, and the community for the last 12 months including work on committees, GA and advising for the department, reviewing for peer-reviewed journals, mentoring fellow students, or any other activities you deem appropriate.

Alumna Kate Coleman-Minahan hosting a Qualitative & Mixed Methods Seminar Mini-Series

Kate Coleman-Minahan, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, Assistant Professor at the CU College of Nursing at Anschutz Medical Campus is hosting mini-series Seminar on Qualitative & Mixed Methods. The talk will be hosted via Zoom on February 16 from 12:00pm-1:00pm. The goals of the talk are:

  1. To identify 2-3 ways to design mixed methods studies
  2. To describe how theory can be incorporated into generating research questions and mixed methods designs
  3. To identify 2-3 practical implications of mixed methods designs

Funding Opportunities

Agents of Change in Environmental Justice Fellowship

Applications are now open for the 2022-2023 fellowship. The fellowship requires 60-80 hours of time over 9 months, this includes participating in online peer-based writing workshops and training seminars, writing and tackling edits, and disseminating your work and that of other fellows through various platforms. Fellows who complete all the requirements of the program will receive a $1000 honorarium. Please submit your application materials (including the personal essays and CV/ resume) through our online portal by 11pm EST on April 15th.

TL1 Pre- and Post- Doctoral Fellowship Program

The CCTSI TL1 Program provides Pre-Doctoral Fellowships for current PhD and clinical doctorate students and Post-Doctoral Fellowships for clinical trainees or post graduate medical residents interested in pursuing clinical and translational team-oriented research. If you are a current or soon-to-be graduating student interested in doing translational research consider applying to be a CCTSI pre- or post-doctoral fellow by March 23rd.
