Christopher Beekman to participate in immigration workshop

Associate Professor of Anthropology Christopher Beekman is participating in a design workshop on the “Synthetic Study of Human Migration as Understood from a Long-Term Perspective,”organized by the Coalition for Archaeological Synthesis, held at the Amerind Foundation in Dragoon, AZ, September 27-30. Beekman was one of 15 researchers selected to participate in this 4-day workshop where collaborators will work to develop proposals to fund synthesis working groups. These groups will then focus on developing long-term, comparative and synthetic understandings of the factors stimulating human migration, the conditions and processes implicated in the success of the incorporation of immigrant groups at their destination, and how these new understandings might inform contemporary public policy.
