The CLAS Office of Research and Creative Activities (ORCA) has two new grant programs that are currently accepting applications from faculty:

  • First, is a Presentation and Publication grant that provides up to $1,000 to assist with sharing completed (or near-completed) research and creative work with other scholars via conference presentation or publication. The award can be used to assist with conference and travel expenses to present research at a conference or invited seminar or to assist with costs associated with publication such as subvention or the production of graphics or art for a book, or open access fees or page charges for an article accepted for publication.
  • Second is a Research Launch or Completion grant that provides up to $1,000 in funding to assist with expenses related to furthering work on a new or ongoing research/creative project. These funds can be used to cover a wide range of expenses including (but not limited to) travel to collect data or work with a collaborator, RA funding, purchase of necessary books, software or data, participant incentives, and equipment or supplies necessary for research.

Applications may be submitted on a rolling basis, but a faculty member is only eligible for a maximum of one award (of either type) in a 12-month period. Please complete the appropriate application and send to

The University  Office of Research Services (ORS) is requesting applications for two new Seed Grant programs:

  • The Arts and Humanities Seed Grants Program is designed to provide support for faculty proposal development efforts that seek external funding in the arts and humanities. It is expected that this program, funded and managed by ORS, will result in growth in proposal submissions to external funding sources.
  • The Open Program is designed to provide support for faculty proposal development efforts that seek external funding for traditional research activities but that require small amounts of funding to launch initial research activities providing the initial data, archival material, and community engagement activities necessary to complete an external grant application.

Note that both of these programs require a subsequent submission for external funding. (See the announcement for the CLAS Grant Search Workshop below if you need assistance finding opportunities to apply for external grants). For application deadlines and complete program information please visit the Research and Creative Activity SharePoint hub site (requires CU Denver login).
