Physics Professor Martin E. Huber was asked to contribute a quote to the latest exhibit at the Clyfford Still Museum – "Still: Elemental" – relating his work to the classical Greek elements of earth, water, air, fire and aether. Prior to the exhibit opening, Huber was interviewed as a local community expert on dark matter/dark energy and provided a quote that is on display in the "aether" room of the exhibit: “As a scientist, I relate to the concept of aether through its link to our imagination and how that which we can’t understand or prove in the universe beyond Earth changes over time. And questioning this is what makes us human. If we can’t experiment with it here on Earth, all we can do is look, ponder, and wonder.” In addition, Huber spoke as part of the opening of the exhibit, on September 26 at the Sterling Event Space.
Canvas Outage
Canvas access has been restored for our users, but the service reliability remains uncertain. Due to recent events, Canvas has had intermittent outages which are at the discretion of the vendor and may occur during a final exam. Faculty and staff may continue to use Canvas, but we strongly advise faculty and students to prepare a contingency plan for turning in assignments and final exams in the event Canvas access becomes unavailable again.
Instructure, the company that owns Canvas, has provided an FAQ about the incident, which may not answer all your questions. We will share more information if it becomes available.
