Dr. Nick Estes is a citizen of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico, co-founder of The Red Nation, and author of Our History Is The Future: Standing Rock Versus the Dakota Access Pipeline, and Long Tradition of Indigenous Resistance and Standing with Standing Rock: Voices from the #NoDAPL Movement. Dr. Estes will discuss his books, the lessons from Standing Rock, as well as the implications of the continuing celebration of Columbus Day and other ongoing manifestations of invader colonialism.
