The Denver Asian American Pacific Islander Commission Mayor’s Diversity Award is given to recognize leadership in advancing social justice work. Minsun Ji is the Political Science department’s Director of the Center for New Directions in Politics and Public Policy. Minsun was selected this year for her work as a labor organizer among immigrant janitors, for being the founding executive director of El Centro Humanitario (a human rights center for undocumented immigrants), and for her recent efforts to build community partnerships and scholarship funds at the university to benefit DACA and other underrepresented students. The award notice states that “Minsun’s passion and unwavering commitment to some of Denver’s most overlooked residents and her focus and determination on making real systemic change deserve to be celebrated.”
