Bean on false emergency alerts

People are "pretty forgiving" when false alarms are adequately explained to them, but eventually they begin ignoring the warnings, said Hamilton Bean, an Associate Communication Professor who has studied emergency alert systems. At a certain point, people will start to opt out of emergency push notifications, but nobody has figured out exactly when, he said.
