Ernest Boffy-Ramirez, Assistant Professor CT of Economics, publishes research on the countercyclical relationship between educational attainment and state unemployment. Boffy-Ramirez's latest research, in Education Economics, shows that 17 year old male high school students on the margin between going to college and entering the labor force are tipped into pursuing additional education during periods of high unemployment, while women are unaffected.
