Associate Professor of English Amy Vidali was awarded the Kenneth Bruffee Award, an annual award for the best scholarship on writing programs. The article, "Disabling Writing Program Administration," traces how disability figures in the prolific narratives of those who run writing programs. Vidali identifies how anxiety and depression often feature as inevitable and intolerable in such narratives, and Vidali’s analysis is punctuated by her own narrative of depression. She suggests bringing together the insights of disabled people and perspectives in order to innovate, include, and transgress expected and exclusionary norms in writing program administration.
